Midwest Chapter of the Health Physics Society 2009 Annual Meeting & Family Picnic

June 27, 2009 from 3:30 to 8:00 PM
Argonne Park

The Midwest Chapter of the Health Physics Society will be hosting a combined 2009 Annual Meeting and Family Picnic at Argonne Park in Argonne, IL on Saturday, June 27 from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM - rain or shine (there is a shelter in case of rain).

On behalf of the Chapter's officers and board of directors, I heartily invite you and your guests to the picnic as a celebration of the Chapter's accomplishments this past year, not the least of which was the second annual Midwest Health Physics Technical Symposium.

Chapter business - i.e., the annual meeting - will be a short program from 5:00 to 5:30 PM, followed by a picnic dinner.

Dinner will consist of burgers (both meat and vegetarian), hot dogs, pasta salad, potato salad, chips, pretzels, and desserts. Soft drinks and bottled water will be provided.

All members, guests, affiliates, prospective members, and interested parties are welcome at the Family Picnic. Cost will be $10 per person for adults. Children between 11 and 18 years of age will be $5. Children 10 years of age and younger will be complimentary.

Argonne Park is located across Cass Ave. from Argonne National Laboratory (click here for a map).

The park includes playground equipment, a volleyball court, and fields for other sports activities - e.g., softball, soccer, etc. The area is surrounded by Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve, which includes a 10-mile crushed gravel walking/biking path. The waterfall itself is a short one mile hike. Please be aware that pets and alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the park.

If you plan on attending, please RSVP by either phone or email. If you are like me and sometimes forget to RSVP until that day, please call anyway.
