  • Lions Eye Health Program - LEHP is a community-based education program that empowers communities to save sight through the early detection and timely treatment of diabetic eye disease and glaucoma, and encourages the appropriate treatment for low vision. LEHP is partially funded through a SightFirst grant from the Lions Clubs International Foundation and is endorsed by Kay K. Fukushima, LCIF Chairman and Past International President.
  • Lions of Illinois Foundation - The Lions of Illinois Foundation exists to assist in the general improvement of the quality of life of those in Illinois having unmet needs. It is the specific mission of the Foundation to provide quality programs and services to the people of Illinois for the detection, treatment, and rehabilitation of visual and hearing impairments. The foundation, solely, or in conjunction with the Lions / Lioness Clubs, Foundations, and other organizations, shall provide its assistance through grant processes or delivered through direct or indirect programs and services.
  • LionNet - LionNet is a network of national and state level service sites called LionNet Nodes. They aim to promote the use of the Internet to members of Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service association. Many Lions clubs, districts, multidistricts and programs operate their own Internet websites, this site provides a directory of those resources.
  • LeoNet - What are Leo's? Leo clubs are comprised of young men and women, ages 12 to 28, who are dedicated to making a difference in their community. Sponsored by a Lions club, each Leo club elects its own officers, schedules its own meetings, and selects its own fundraisers and service projects.
  • Lions of Illinois Eye Research Institute - The Lions of Illinois Eye Research Institute (LIERI) was built in 1985 by generous contributions from the Lions Clubs of America. The Institute houses research laboratories and offices for many of the basic vision scientists and Ophthalmologists in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Research activities are supported by private and national grant funding agencies and by the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. The Lions of Illinois have played a very active role in the development of the UIC Eye Center's research and patient care facilities. The Lions raised over $5 million to help build the Lions of Illinois Eye Research Institute for the UIC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and created a $1.1 million endowed chair for ocular research. In addition, the Lions have established a patient referral network among virtually all clubs in Illinois. The participating clubs often sponsor indigent patients with severe eye disease to be treated at the UIC Eye Center.

  • Chicago Lighthouse Industries - Chicago Lighthouse Industries is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to employing people who are blind or visually impaired to provide quality products and services to a variety of customers, including the Federal Government, State of Illinois, architects/designers and various Commercial entities.
  • Catholic Guild for the Blind - The Catholic Guild for the Blind serves children and adults who are blind or visually impaired including those with new vision loss, each with unique needs. Through its resources, programs and services, the Catholic Guild for the Blind strives to meet these needs while promoting positive attitudes about blindness and assisting in the achievement of dignity and independence at home, in the workplace and in the community

  • The Deaf Resource Library - The Deaf Resource Library is an online collection of reference material and links intended to educate and inform people about Deaf cultures in Japan and the United States; as well as deaf and hard of hearing related topics. While I have a bias towards cultural Deaf models, I am also trying to include more material about hard of hearing issues as well.
  • Chicago Hearing Society - Chicago Hearing Society, a division of Anixter Center, in partnership with both children and adults who are Deaf or hard of hearing, their families and allies, promotes self-reliance and opportunities for individuals to participate in the communities of their choice.
  • Chicago Comets Beep Baseball - The Chicago Comets Beep Baseball Team is a group of Blind and Visually Impaired athletes from the Chicago land area who love to play baseball. The Comets are members of the National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA) and compete against other NBBA teams from all over the country.
