Lion Georg was invited to membership in the Chicago Mayfair Lions Club in 1965. He has held many club offices, and as President in 1969, 1980 and 1997, the 50th anniversary of the club. He was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellow by the club at the anniversary. He has served the district as Zone Chairman, Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer, Vice Governor, and chairman of the Finance Committee, MERL Committee, Leadership, and Long Range Planning, Extension and Membership committees. He has written the governors newsletter for 7 years, and served on the convention, election, Midyear Workshop, circus, golf and bowling committees. He has been awarded the District Cabinet Lion of the Year, 2 Extension Awards, 2 International Presidents Certificates and 3 Membership Keys. He served the State as Membership Chairman for three years, as a presenter at 3 State Conventions and 3 MD1 Forums. He has served on 7 International Parade and Sgt at Arms committees. He has presented programs on Roberts Rules, Dr. IQ, wrote the Membership Shuffle performed at District and State conventions and presented programs to seven different Lions Clubs in Iceland. He has been selected to serve as the 2007 International Convention Parade Chairman and was named Council Chairman for 2003-4 MD1. He
and his wife Lion Judy, have lived in the Oriole Park Community for 40
years; have three children, Lion Doug, Colleen and Amy. His hobbies include
writing short stories and novels, black and white photography and woodworking.
