Lion Ralph joined
the Brookfield/LaGrange Park Lions Club in 1983 and has been a member
in good standing ever since. He has held all the offices in the club with
the exception of treasurer, and was club president 1987-1988. He has had
perfect attendance for all years and has served on all committees of his
club and chaired most. He was given the "Lions of Illinois Fellow"
award and two "Melvin Jones Fellow" awards by his Lions club.
Lion Ralph has
served his Lions District as a Zone Chairman from 1993 to 1998, Region
Chairman 1999-2000, & Vice District Governor 2001-2002. He has been
active as handicapper and member of the District Bowling committee since
1994, and also served on the Golf committee. He has been a 100% club secretary
1994-2001 when he took over the task upon the passing of the then secretary
Lion Jim Daley. Lion Ralph has a 100% presidents award, 7 100% secretary
awards, 5 100% zone chairman awards, 2 Governor's appreciation awards,
and an International President's Leadership award.
Lion Ralph and
his wife Millie have lived in Brookfield for the past 40 years where Lion
Ralph has served on many village boards over the past 20 years. He served
on the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, and later was appointed
as Chairman of the Plan Commission. He is currently a Police and Fire
commissioner.
Lion Ralph graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana, with a degree
in Electrical Engineering and worked in the communications field as a
hardware and software designer until his retirement in 1992.
